With the Game Reserve as our setting, Marula Education Centre is able to provide a number of unique activities that learners cannot experience elsewhere.

For Grades 5 and above we recommend our Overnight African Bush Camp excursion. After a full day of activities, learners carry their backpacks and walk 3km to our very rustic but beautiful Rock Face campsite. Once there they set up camp, make fires and cook their own supper.

After supper we go for a night walk and then it’s time to bed after a very long, but fun day!

Two activities that are included in all programmes are Day and Night Game Drives and Wild Bird Ringing with Ornithologist, Dr Barry Taylor.

Game Drives are taken in Tala Land Rovers with our qualified Field Guides. On game drives learners get to see and learn about the animals, plants and ecosystems at Tala.
Tala is also unique in offering learners the opportunity to attend bird trapping and ringing sessions, where learners are taught about wild bird identification, ringing of wild birds, and participate in the catch and release of some of the birds.Marula offers an extensive range of activities that can be included into day and overnight programmes.

Activities are variable depending on themes following on from the classroom and the requests of the school. Unless specific requests are made, activities are chosen according to grade of learners, size of group, as well as availability of instructors.
